In collaboration with EMPA, the Fixit company has developed a world first – Fixit 222 Aerogel High-Performance Insulating Plaster, a product which offers incredible new opportunities for the construction industry. Aerogels have already been in use in space technology for some time, and now they are finding applications as a very high quality insulating material in the field of building construction. The range of applications encompasses the renovation of old buildings to conserve energy and the thermal insulation of historic buildings and structures. This means that listed buildings can also be optimally renovated in terms of energy-saving, naturally with the agreement of the appropriate conservation authorities.
Fixit 222 Aerogel High-Performance Insulating Plaster boasts an outstanding coefficient of thermal conductivity of 0,028 W/mK. Improved insulation of a building shell can make a significant contribution to reducing heating costs. Thanks to its mineral-based composition and high water vapour permeability, mould and mildew attacks are prevented and levels of living comfort enhanced. Fixit 222 Aerogel High-Performance Insulating Plaster is non-flammable, so it makes an active contribution to the fire safety of buildings in which it is used.
